Sometimes things you wouldn’t have thought for a second would affect you leave you gasping for breath in pain.
Three months ago, a friend of mine posted a picture of her newborn online. There he was, lying in his pram, resplendent in a cuddly brown coat replete with little bear ears on the hood.
I could imagine the warmth of him, his breathing; his little tummy as it rose and fell. His delicious smell.
But instead of smiling and admiring this brand-new perfect little life, I felt as if I had been punched. Because that was the moment it hit me: I would never have another baby again.
